Karis' quilt

Karis designed this quilt on eq7 and I made it for her.  She is now happy sleeping under her doggies.  Soon I will be posting a pic of a piano stool I made from a broken chair.  Happy creating all!

garden troll

I finally finished my first rug that was just hooked not hooked and locked.  It was fun and I think my troll is cute and shy.  It is based on a chantel's stain glass window.  I used felt because it was really inexpensive to see if I liked makeing the rug.  It took time, but I like it better than locker hooking because you can get smaller detail.  This creature is now gracing the entry into my art room.  Happy quilting/art making all!

karis ' quilt

Here is Karis' latest and greatest.  She just finished it yesterday.  It makes me want to get back to my king size grandmas garden with 1 inch hexagons that I am quilting closer than a 1/4 inch apart.  What was I thinking???  It will look awesome if I ever get around to finishing it.  Do you have a quilt you want done, will look great, but is somehow being procrastinated on??  I probably have more than one...  I promised myself I would finish them all, just didnt give myself a finish date :)  Happy quilting!

I have been torn between three projects, with one I want to get back to, and of course a few I want to start. I have been trying to finish these three, a crocheted skirt, a hooked rug, and a table runner. Because I can't decide which one I want finished first, I have been dividing my time between the three. It is actually good. My hands get to move differently, I get exercise in walking between the three, and my brain can get exercise as well. How many of you claim walking around your quilt room as exercise?? I soo want to start another quilt, but I think I will try and be good... Here is to another beautiful day tomorrow full of projects, garden , kid, and husband time :) The picture is of a rug I crocheted from my leftover fabric scrap strips. Happy quilting!

I cant believe I did not take a picture of my entry into the Hoffman Challenge. I always do... hmm, I guess it doesnt much matter, it did not get accepted :( There is always next year :) I have been accepted twice so far to travel, or was it three, no twice. I have two other entries out there now, but answers wont be back until Nov. You should definitely enter,, even little guys. It broadens your imagination, skills, and sometimes (well usually all the time) gets you outside of your comfort zone. So I have posted a picture of my garden belt I made to hold my tools. Designer outside/inside fabrics are getting much nicer these days! Whether you are out in the garden or in your art room, have fun and happy quilting!

Just a picture to celebrate our dog Kodiak Bear, aka Kodi. He has been not feeling well and now we think we know what is going on, yeah! I think I shall make a quilt from this picture, what do you think? Happy quilting!

Just spent an awesome day at Wildlife Safari. It is a place where you drive through the zoo. We had emus trying to check out their reflection on our van and ones who refused to share the road. There were zebras and giraffes and lions and tigers and bears and hippos and rhinos oh my! Have you done any animal quilts lately? I have done several. Here is one of my more recent ones. Enjoy the summer! Happy quilting.

I am sitting here struggling with knitting. It does not seem to be my thing but I love the drape of knitting. Crocheting is way fun to do but does not drape the same. I keep telling myself to work at it more and it will become easier, like hand quilting. Though, I am pretty sure hand quilting came easier to me than this is! As I struggle here, I have included a picture of my third scarf I ever crocheted. I think it is time to go back and work on Karis' dog quilt now.... happy quilting!

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July weekend and to remember to not take our freedoms for granted. Happy quilting everyone!

Today I am enjoying the sun, starting on some cushions (as my bottom hurts when I sit on two of our stools), and contemplating some crochet or another quilt or maybe crochet..... Or, maybe I will sit here and dwadle :) Is dwadle even a word? whatever you are up to today, here is a nice little picture of some artwork at my kids school that I was thinking of turning into fabric. Happy quilting!

It's finished, yeah!!! I sent it off and will put a picture on here in a bit. To celebrate the quilt going off to be judged, I sat down and worked on my garden troll rug. He is cute! I put up a picture of a quilt my daughter wanted. Now my other daughter is requesting one. I pulled the fabric today, the excitement begins! This one will be dogs and blue. What have you made recently for family?

Happy quilting!

Working hard on my contest quilt, almost done. I have improvised a design wall on my curtains so I can look at my quilt and see if anything needs to be revised and/or added to it. I have a small flannel design wall, but it is covered in works in progress, therefore, the curtains. Todays picture is of two stools I have made, what fun to make! I can't wait to make another one, but I need to find some more foam first. It was a wonderful class from a lady named Sheila Snyder, and now I have plans to expand off into other shapes and designs. Need to find that foam! What fun classes have you taken recently?
Happy quilting!

Wow, amazing how time flies. I have been busy doing lots of family, kids, and art things. Here is a picture of our reduce, reuse, recycle idea as we turned plastic bags in to a cool rug for my kids school. It was easy and the material was free :) I have also tried knitting and fallen in love with crocheting. I think because crocheting is close to hand quilting. I have entered several contests (still waiting to here back from them) and put together some quilts for my house (actually for me to keep!). How many of you out there actually keep quilts for yourself??

Happy quilting!
